Richard Paul Germain founded Biochemique LLC in 2021 after nearly three decades developing specialty chemical ingredients that work better and leave less behind. His career has been defined by one consistent question: why are we still using petroleum-derived chemistry when bio-based alternatives can do the job?
That question has driven work across advanced alkyl polyglucoside chemistry — including branched-chain APG variants unavailable from any major supplier — amino acid-based surfactants in both bead and spray-dried solid formats, liposome-based delivery systems for anti-hyperpigmentation actives, and now the sophorolipid derivative platform that represents the most comprehensive bio-based ingredient commercialization effort in this chemistry class anywhere in the United States.
Biochemique is built on what Richard has always done: take scientifically validated chemistry that exists only in academic literature, understand exactly where it fits in a commercial formulation, and build the process, the specification, and the IP around it to make it a real ingredient that real formulators can use.
